Resources for Planning an ID Project Schedule

Resources for Planning an ID Project Schedule

Project management can quickly get overwhelming. Luckily for us, working in the 21st century means we have unlimited access to websites, blogs, and online videos to help walk us through the rough paths of project management. By utilizing these ready-to-use resources, a project manager can make a more informed decision on tasks such as budget and scheduling. According to Niño et al. (2015), sharing lessons learned and knowledge management allows a project manager the flexibility to practice, reflect, and formalize plans before sharing them with their stakeholders with less risk of failure.

The Digital Project Manager website blog offers its project manager viewers articles on managing teams, selecting the right tools, and training. The best part of this website is that it has a podcast. Podcasts allow the busy professional to gain knowledge and, at times, be entertained while on the go privately at any time (Goldman, 2018). Wearing headphones keeps what you are listening to private and hands-free. The benefit of podcasts is that you can pause, repeat, or skip through sections of the recording. The podcast can be used as a teaching resource and preparation tool to help project managers remain committed to scheduling and delivering an excellent project.

Project Times is considered a “one-stop shop” for project managers. The website offers its viewers resources and tools to help project managers flourish in their field. The website has a plethora of webinars, whitepapers, job listings, and the ability to become an external contributor to submit articles and ideas. What helps this website stand out from the rest is that it offers templates. Project managers can reduce their time creating documents and graphic organizers by downloading free templates from Project Times. These templates can be reused as they are pre-formatted to help project managers not have to start from scratch. Project Times has various templates for scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

To conclude, project management comes with unique sets of challenges. Tackle these challenges like a professional by staying engaged in up-to-date websites and blogs that offer valuable information you can test before applying it to your current project. Dr. Stolovitch (n.d) shares that managing the workflow of a project can be challenging when you are responsible for a delivery date, holding everyone accountable, and ensuring effective communication. Taking advantage of the project management online community of people who share their knowledge and resources should be a part of a project manager's professional growth plan.

  1. I love the layout of your site. There are so many options for resources these days. I am glad that you chose two different sources from me so that I can look at them as well. I like the aspects of The Digital Project Manager such as the podcast. I like the idea of being able to listen to the latest trends and not always reading. Then I also like Project Times options of webinars and job postings. Both sites definitely cater to the profession in ways I find very beneficial.
